Former McLane Wrestlers In College

Brandon Stearns, Brown University. Brandon is presently a Senior at Brown. He just won a tough 3-2 decision over Lehigh’s Joe Kennedy at a dual meet on January 25th. Brandon also posted a 4-2 win over Bucknell’s Rol Waltko on January 18th.

According to the Brown University website, Stearns is “having a fine season.” That comes as no surprise to those of us who followed Brandon’s wrestling career at General McLane. He had a great work ethic and was always ready and willing to do whatever it took to help his team.

Hadley Harrison, Clarion University. Hadley is a Junior at Clarion and was named a team co-captain this season. The Clarion website lists Hadley’s record at 13-9.

Hadley is on fire right now. He just went 2-1 for Clarion at the Indiana Duals on January 18th. He pinned Justin Guthrie of Gardner-Webb in the opener and then followed up with a 3-1 win over Patrick Graham of American.

Hadley also went 3-0 in a recent series of matches held at Clarion’s Tippin Gymnasium, where he beat J.J. Lester of Millersville, pinned Dan Pauley of Duquense in 4:23 and decisioned Ryan Goodman of West Virginaia, 5-3.

Clay Steadman, Penn State. Clay is currently sporting a 4-13 record, but he is a redshirt Freshman and has been thrown into a very tough 197 pound weight class right out of the gate. I got a chance to watch Clay wrestle on TV Sunday evening against Indiana.

Clay was nearly knocked unconscious during the match, but in a typical Clay show of determination, got back up and finished the match. Clay actually ended up having to sit out the Nittany Lions next match against Purdue. There’s no doubt that Clay will do well over the next three seasons.

Donald Osinski, Pitt. Donald isn’t on the Pitt wrestling team, but he still wrestles with Pitt’s Wrestling Club. Donald placed 3rd at the Doug Cherry Invitational Tournament in Bethlehem, PA. this past weekend. Donald went 4-1, losing only to the Tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler, Jacob Schalles of Navy.

Here are Donald’s stats from that tournament:

Pigtail Round: Arron Asch, Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute, Osinski WBF 1:39

Quarterfinals: Jacob Schalles, United States Navy Preparatory School
(NAPS) Ranked 3rd at 165; Oviedo High School, Oviedo, FL, High School
Record 115-26, State Runner-Up, Schalles WBD 9-4

Consi Quarter Finals: Dakota Moore, Gloucester County College, NJCAA,
Osinski WBD 8-2

Consi Semi-Finals: Bryan Rodriguez, Northampton County Area Community
College, Osinski Win by Injury Default

Consi Finals: Eric Seigmann, Northeastern University, King Philip
Regional, Wrentham, MA, High School Record 103-44, State Runner Up,
Osinski WBD 4-1

Congratulations and Good Luck to all four former General McLane wrestlers.
