2007-08 WRESTLER of the WEEK!

Week 1
Seth Stonis. Seth placed 2nd at the Mountaineer Invitational Tournament. He posted 4 WINS and all four were PINS!!!
Week 2
Zach Lucas. Zac was forced into his first Varsity action due to an injury. He made weight on short notice and excelled at the McDowell Invitational. Zac earned a 6th place finish and recorded 4 WINS including 3 by fall.
Week 3
Shawn McFadden. Shawn went 5-2 and placed 7th at the grueling King Of the Mountain Tournament. Shawn recovered from an opening round loss to post 4 straight wins.


Week 4
Tyler Bowers. Tyler posted a 16-1 technical fall over Bob Juracko at the GM vs. Conneaut Lake dual meet.
Week 5
Matt Campbell. Matt won the 189 lbs. title at the Reynolds JV Tournament. Matt went 3-0 and had 2 pins.

Week 6
Cyrus Parlin. Cyrus went 4-1 and placed 3rd at the 30th Annual Tool City Tournament. Cyrus gave up just 4 points in his 4 wins.

Week7
Corey Goss. Corey started a rally with a major decision over Beau Norton that resulted in a McLane come from behind 37-29 upset of Region 4 rival Corry.
Week 8
Jake Carter. Jake had a great weekend at the Corry Duals. He went unbeaten (7-0), posted 6 falls and put up the most team points (39).

Week 9
Zac Baumgartner. Zac had a big win over Kenny Hammer of McDowell on Senior Night and went 4-1 at the Lewistown Duals.

Week 10
Ryan Ruth. Ryan won the Cranberry JV tournament with 2
pins and a technical fall.

Week 11
Caleb Baker. Caleb won the NWPA JV Tournament in Jamestown.
Week 12
LeRoy Jenkins. LeRoy wrestled very well in the last dual meet of the year. He scored a 14-6 major deccision over Lee Zeigler of Fort LeBoeuf.
Week 13
Cyrus Parlin. Cyrus won his second straight 119 lbs. District 10 AAA Title, qualified for Regionals and scored his 100th career win all in the same weekend.
Week 14
Cyrus Parlin. Cyrus took 3rd place at the NW Regional Tournament in Altoona and qualified for PIAA Championships.






NEWS & NOTES

 

Hudson Harrison became an NCAA D2 All-American when he
made the finals and placed 2nd.

Hayden Harrison became a 3 time NAIA All-American when he
placed 3rd at the NAIA National Tournament.

Former GM wrestler, Brandon Stearns was recently named as an
Honorable Mention selection to the 2007-2008 All-Ivy League Wrestling Team.

Former GM Wrestlers in College


Hudson Harrison 157/174 Mercyhurst College DII. Hudson is a Two-time NCAA qualifier.

The fourth time was a charm for Hudson Harrsion. After qualifying 4 times for the NCAA D2 Tournament, Hudson made the finals and finished as the 2008 D2 runnerup!

Hayden Harrison 174 lbs. Embry Riddle Aer. University NAIA. Hurricane

Hayden finished 2nd at the 2006 NAIA Tournament, won the 2007 NAIA 157 lbs. title and finished 3rd at the 2008 Tourney...CONGRATULATIONS!!

Hadley Harrison 149 lbs. Clarion University D1.

Hadley placed 6th in the 2007 EWL Tournament and 3rd at the 2008 Tourney. He was sel;ected as a wildcard for the 2008 NCAA DI Tournament.

Branden Stearns 197 lbs has a 12-9 record with 3 falls this season (as of 2/8/08) Brown University DI. Brandon was an Honorable Mention pick for the 2007-2008 All-Ivy wrestling team.

Eric Zelina 149 Theil College DIII. Eric presently sports a 7-4 record as a freshman at Theil. He took 5th place at the Philly Tournament and went 3-2 at the RIT Invitational. He also had a key pin in a home dual meet in a win against conference foe, Washington & Jefferson.
